1) Prana;- This vital force is considered to be rising from the lower part of spinal column and passing into the brain through spinal cord. It is responsible in the proper functioning of five sensory organs and five motor organs. Heart also was considered to be functioning because of the presence of this energy.
2)Apana:-This part of the vital force or radiations are considered to be passing downwards from brain to lower parts of the nervous system i.e. nerves in bowel, urinary bladder, genitals and uterus.
3)Vyana:- This Vital force is considered to be spread all around body and help to perceive sense of touch through the sensory organ namely the skin. These radiations create resting potential in the nerves in this sensory organ- Vyana creates pulses in the heart also.
4)Udana:~ This energy is considered to be instrumental in the process of exhalation. It is also supposed to be moving upwards. (Powerful movement of vital force upwards can raise phlegm and air from the lower parts of lungs, according to the observation of the author)
5) Samana:- This Vital force facilitates working of motor organs
like hands, legs etc.
6) Naga:- This division of vital energy is supposed to be -instrumental for vomiting and stammering. Disequilibria in the distribution of these vital forces are the precipitating factor
behind these conditions.
7) Koorma:- opening and closing of the eyes., smiling, rapture and yawning are the functions of this division of energy. This can be described as energy going to facial nerves.
8) Krikara:- This vital force is instrumental in sneezing and secretion of tears.
9) Devadatha:- These are the vital forces going to the nerves which activate the muscles.
10) Dhananjaya:- It is described that this vital force leaves the body only after 90 minutes from the time of death. (These ionizing radiations causing resting potentials in the spinal cord are responsible for the reflex movements in the body even after death).
