Five Sheaths for the Individual Soul

1) Annamaya Kosha (Physical sheath)
This is made of food. It cannot survive without food. This is bound (dependant) and degenerating.
2) Pranamaya Kosha (Sheath of prana)
This sheath is said to be activating sensory organs and motor organs. It saves the physical body from degeneration. (Neuropsychoimmunity caused by natural radiations absorbed by central nervous system and body). But it has no consciousness or knowledge by its own capacity, according to yogic texts.
3) Manomaya Kosha (Sheath of superficial mind)
This is the sensory and motor areas of brain, and the nerves connecting these areas to sensory and motor organs, filled with prana or ionizing radiations.
4) Vijnana Maya Kosha (Sheath of knowledge)
It is described that this is the seat of intellect, and has the will and knowledge to act. The informations got through the sensory organs are stored, analysed, discriminated and judged here. Appropriate actions are also decided in the sheath of knowledge.
5) Ananda Maya Kosha (Sheath of bliss)
Accomplished yogis were aware of the continuum of infinite energy, with which the individual body as well as the cosmos is filled. This experience gives supreme bliss and exhilaration. They (the Yogies) become the Cosmos. Individual and Cosmos merge in to one existence. All kinds of duality end here. The whole supreme existence (inner and outer Cosmos) responsible for this serene experience is the sheath supreme bliss or Anandamaya Kosha
